Chris Martenson Peak Prosperity, where he often also covers important economic and political issues. These gentlemen and others are doing great and noble work by providing us with much needed and excellent advice. I am not a medical doctor, so I am not in a position to give advice on medical issues, but I would like to pass on what I am doing for myself. Obviously all of us also need to do what we can to stop the spread of this disease. For example, while with a common cold many people would soldier on and go to work, I do not think this is appropriate in the present circumstances as it may not be the common cold, and you could be spreading COVID With such a small percentage, this means that if you have a runny nose and no temperature or cough or anosmia, you probably just have a cold.

The net result of this is probably that millions of people around the world suffered the unnecessary anxiety of thinking that they may have caught COVID, when they only had a cold. I have gleaned the following advice from the good doctors mentioned above, and will act accordingly. In addition, it is always a good idea to see a doctor for individual advice before trying or changing anything. Dr Roger Seheult see MedCram Update 59 has made a video where he kindly provides details of his personal regimen regarding taking vitamin supplements etc.

It now appears that many of us may get this disease and that health care systems around the world could struggle to cope if too many people get sick at once. I think it is therefore sensible for me to do whatever I can to support my immune system, in the hope that it will then be better able to deal with this disease, if I get it. This could also mean that I may not need to go to a hospital, or even have to see a doctor, and so I will not be a drain on what may be an already overwhelmed health care system.

On the advice of Doctor John Campbell, having a good level of vitamin D may reduce the chance of catching influenza, and possibly reducing its severity. In response to this, I will be taking vitamin D tablets over the next few months or more and getting a little more exposure to sunshine may help as well.

Dr Campbell also points out that people with darker skin are more likely to be deficient in vitamin D, especially in climates or indoor lifestyles with little sunshine, so if you have dark skin, it is even more important to ensure that you have adequate levels of vitamin D.

Older people may also be more deficient in vitamin D. Doctor Roger Seheult has suggested that good sleep helps the immune system, and that it would be unwise to be deficient in zinc if a person gets this disease. I will therefore be supplementing zinc, with pills and diet, and I may as well increase vitamin C, through specific supplements, or a good multivitamin supplement. He also recommends quercetin a plant-based zinc ionophore and N-acetyl cysteine.

Zinc deficiency is common in the general population, but even more so in older people and men, and this may correlate with more severe infections and a higher fatality rate for this virus among older men. Men also lose zinc through sexual activity. See some research I did and speculation about zinc and this coronavirus below:. COVID and zinc. Taking quercetin or another ionophore such as hinokitiol and zinc supplements seems like a good idea to me quercetin being an off the shelf supplement which is a zinc ionophore — see more below.

If hydroxychloroquine or quercetin become major treatments for COVID, it could be that people with higher levels of zinc in their bodies from diet and or supplements taken for months before getting sick may respond better and quicker to treatment see Dr.

Seheult update 32 and Theoretically they would be already primed for treatment with hydroxychloroquine if that is necessary. It has been surprising to me how poorly designed some of the medical research into hydroxychloroquine has been, for example, omitting zinc altogether when hydroxychoroquine acts as an ionophore for zinc, and it appears that zinc is what actually inhibits the replication of the virus in the cells shown in vitro , and furthermore many of the patients were probably deficient in zinc when treatment started see the relevant MedCram videos.

I have been involved in horticultural and agricultural scientific research and the above appears to me to be scandalously bad, with predictable and disastrous consequences.

If hydroxychloroquine is not suited to some patients, then perhaps quercetin or some other ionophore may be appropriate. With some of the research done into hydroxychloroquine, it is difficult to believe that the clinical trials are just poorly designed, and difficult to avoid concluding that they intended to deceptively demonstrate that hydroxychloroquine does not work.

It therefore seems logical to me that in addition to the more direct actions that medications such as ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin or doxycycline may have on this virus, patients with COVID may also benefit simply from the fact that these medications should help to heal existing viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, so that they have fewer comorbidities, and their bodies can then deal with COVID by itself, or at least perhaps with fewer other health issues.

A person who has been exposed to phytoncides and therefore has more natural killer cells, is probably going to be able to better cope if they are infected. I think this and other research provides a good case for the inhalation of vapours of eucalyptus oil which I think can reasonably be considered to be a phytoncide as well, as a way of preparing the immune system before infection with COVID More further down this page. Gardening could help as it exposes people to a wide variety of foreign substances from getting your hands in the soil and probably in your mouth , and may also help with exposure to phytoncides, perhaps from scented herbs, as well as physical exercise, benefits to mental health, and more vitamin D if you get some sunshine on your skin.

Please note that this is all rather uncertain, but for me, taking supplements such as quercetin, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin C, etc. I think that the worst case scenario is that I may temporarily have higher than healthy levels of some nutrients, and a minor impact on the hip pocket. This is a small price to pay, if I catch COVID, but experience a less severe case, and stay out of hospital and hopefully not even have to see a doctor.

An tremendous opportunity exists here for good public relations. At risk people over 60, people in aged care, people with relevant to COVID comorbidities, people who work closely with many other people especially in confined spaces, e. Finally, a little more individual responsibility with personal care and attention to sleep, nutrition, and overall health does no harm, along with perhaps inhaling eucalyptus oil vapour, gardening in the sunshine vitamin D and exposure to soil keeping my immune system active , and some walks in a forest.

The suggestions made here have a particular emphasis on people in developing countries, but are also likely to be helpful to people in the developed world. In developing countries it may not be possible get good health care, and finances are limited, so people have to be resourceful and need practical and achievable solutions to problems. In this context, even partial solutions are better than no solutions, and immediate imperfect solutions are better than later possibly superior solutions such as waiting for a vaccine.

It is not a perfect world. There have been no specific scientific trials on eucalyptus oil and its possible effects on SARS-CoV-2, so much of the following is speculation. It would of course be better to make decisions based on proper scientific studies specifically addressing SARS-CoV-2, but in the absence of these at present, I think it is better to try things which are based on existing research on influenza viruses and SARS for example , rather than simply doing nothing while people get sick or even die one by one, waiting for the results of specific trials or a vaccine.

Even though there is such limited knowledge and much uncertainty at this point in time, the suggestions made here are not just wishful thinking but are based instead on scientific research into the virucidal properties of eucalyptus and other plant emitted volatile organic compounds. Perhaps the most relevant paper is this one: 33EucalyptusInhalation. It should be relatively easy, cheap, and quick, to do in vitro studies on the inhibitory effects, or otherwise, of eucalyptus oil and other essential oils, at various rates of dilution, on SARS-CoV Hopefully this will be done, and the results made known, as soon as possible.

Crushed leaves could be kept for a few days in a resealable plastic bag and carried for later use or a few drops of oil on a tissue in a plastic bag kept in your pocket. Also, crushed leaves can be placed into the foot of a stocking and swirled around in very warm water, to create vapour to inhale.

Incidentally, eucalyptus trees tend to recover well and quickly from defoliation, as this commonly happens in bush fires in Australia, and of course more trees could be planted as well. Ginger and lemongrass may also have therapeutic action against this coronavirus, and are widely available, and grow quickly and easily.

Many essential oils are poisonous if ingested, even in small quantities, for humans and pets, so they should be stored in a safe place. Some people may react negatively to inhaling some essential oils, and the vapours may be poisonous to some animals. Stage 1. In this stage people are not infected, and working on the assumption that eucalyptus oil contains a variety of phytoncides, then inhaling the vapour of a few drops of eucalyptus oil diluted in a cup or bowl of very warm water may increase the number of natural killer cells in the body, so that the immune system is effectively boosted to cope with whatever infection may come along, including COVID, or perhaps deal with existing infections.

This could be through direct inhalation, but also oil vapour in homes, dispersed with a nebuliser or fan but not if pets are inside. The phytoncide immunity boosting effect may simply be the immune system responding to foreign substances entering the body, and so it may not make a great deal of difference which phytoncides are used. If this is so, then other volatile organic compounds emitted by various coniferous trees, herbs, lemon grass, etc. Caution is advised. It is important to note that whether any essential oil has a direct virucidal action specifically on COVID or not, the immune boosting effect of phytoncides still applies.

Inhaling the vapour of eucalyptus oil diluted in water has been shown to have virucidal action, and while untested on SARS-CoV-2, it may turn out that it can kill some or most of the virus particles of SARS-CoV-2, in some or most of the air ways. Perhaps preventatively when they enter, and shortly afterwards if they have already entered. Therefore it may be a good idea to inhale the vapours both before and after entering a confined space where other people are present.

If the infection starts with a small dose of virus particles because some or most of the virus particles have been killed, it would normally take longer for the virus numbers to build up, which allows time for the immune system to respond, and this is likely to result in a less severe infection.

This could mean the difference between experiencing a mild case rather than a severe case, or the difference between a severe case or death. About four drops of eucalyptus oil to a cup of very warm water could work as an initial dose. Dosage needs to be tested scientifically. To help concentrate the vapour, a person can cup their hands around the top of the cup and take perhaps five to ten deep breaths.

If tea tree oil is available, it may be just as effective or more effective than eucalyptus oil, then perhaps two drops of each.

Tea tree oil is likely to be more expensive and is not as widely available as a product, and unlike eucalyptus trees, Melaleuca alternifolia is not commonly grown around the world. One session a week may be enough to induce the phytoncide immunity boosting effect, for a week or more, possibly up to thirty days see forest bathing research and the MedCram Update 56 mentioned before. Stage 2. In the very early stage of infection, eucalyptus vapour could perhaps keep the number of viral particles on the airway surfaces down to a minimum.

Inhalation sessions could perhaps be a few times a day, assuming an individual can tolerate this. Again, caution is advised. Stage 3. The anti inflammatory properties of eucalyptus oil could just possibly mean less inflammation in the lungs and elsewhere in the body, and therefore maybe less fluid build up in the lungs, and so less chance of respiratory distress, but at this stage of the disease, clearly professional medical care in a hospital is needed, and so doctors can decide if there may be any benefit to this.

Perhaps it could be added to oxygen breathing apparatus. None of this is tested and proven with COVID specifically, so no definitive claims can be made, but anecdotally people all around the world have had good health outcomes with inhaling eucalyptus oil vapour, for many ailments including assorted viruses, for many decades, with very few people reacting badly to it, so it may be worth trying in case it does some good as a therapy against COVID It appears that people with existing health issues are more likely to experience a severe case of COVID, and are more likely to die.

This being the case, even if eucalyptus oil has no effect whatsoever on SARS-CoV-2, it may still result in better health outcomes if it alleviates certain other health conditions, so that they are not dealing with these as well as COVID Eucalyptus oil also has potential in nebulisers and fogging systems to thoroughly disperse through air spaces, onto surfaces and into nooks and crannies, as a sanitizing agent to kill viruses, bacteria and other pathogens.

Some essential oils may also repel insects such as malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Eucalyptus oil could be alternated with other chlorine or hydrogen peroxide based disinfectants to ensure a thorough kill of pathogens, but the oil has the additional advantages of being a phytoncide which may actually boost immune systems, plus most people think it smells nice. It could be mixed with tea tree oil.

The cost may be higher compared with chlorine-based disinfectants, but given the seriousness of this pandemic, that should be one of the lowest considerations. People may also be more inclined to use an airline, or go on a cruise ship, or visit shops, where it is advertised that they use eucalyptus oil, with its additional benefits. Eucalyptus oil would probably be helpful to sanitize face masks in hot water, without rinsing, and then dried.

Perhaps the oil may help to kill some of the pathogens which may land on the outer surface of the mask, and the wearer may benefit from the phytoncide immunity boosting effect of breathing in the volatile organic compounds. It may also have application as a disinfectant for other personal protective equipment, where this is in short supply and has to be recycled, which is likely in many developing countries. Shut down measures seem to have been effective in providing time for health care systems to prepare in many countries, but continued isolation restrictions while waiting for a vaccine may not be the only possible solution, nor the best solution.

Both grow quickly and easily, and should grow very well in Zai holes see the Zai hole pages on my web site Reforestation. I have no financial interests in any of this, but I confess that I do like eucalyptus trees, and I would be pleased if something from Australia proved to be helpful against COVID, but I try to be objective.

If comprehensive scientific testing proves that, for example, thyme oil is best, then thyme oil is best. A couple of examples below:. December November I just put my first video on YouTube. It is about the Anzac Parade in Cairns Australia. Anzac stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps, and Anzac Day, the dawn service, and the parade are about commemorating and honouring those who are serving or have served in the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.

Version 2 is a slightly improved version still learning. I hope you enjoy it.
